UMP Increase is Expected to Improve Worker Welfare

Deputy Chairwoman of Jakarta City Council, Rany Mauliani responded to the determination of the Jakarta Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) for 2026 at Rp 5,729,876.

we should be grateful

According to her, the determination reflects an increase of 6.17 percent or Rp 333,115 compared to the previous year's UMP.

"Whatever the increase in the minimum wage, we should be grateful. Jakarta still has the highest UMP. Hopefully, this increase will continue and become even more significant in the future," she said, Friday (12/26).

Jakarta Govt Rolls Out Incentives to Improve Workers' Welfare

She added that the increase in the UMP also needs to be adjusted to the capacity of the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) and the support of all elements of Jakarta society.

Rany is also optimistic that the Jakarta Provincial Government can continue to provide greater support to workers as the economy and regional income improve.

"The increase in the UMP should not be viewed solely in terms of its nominal value, but rather as part of a gradual process of improving lives. Hopefully the lives of Jakarta residents will improve in the future," she hoped.

As reported earlier, the determination of the 2026 Jakarta UMP refers to Government Regulation (PP) Number 49 of 2025 with a specific index variable or alpha of 0.75, and is the result of a joint agreement between the Jakarta Provincial Government, labor unions, and business elements in the Wage Council.

In addition to setting wage increases above the inflation rate, the Jakarta Provincial Government is also committed to maintaining worker welfare through various subsidy programs, while also providing incentives for business actors to maintain economic sustainability and realize social justice in Jakarta.
